Been watching death note recently, and really enjoying it. Fun, good story, great animation. Sure

But, after Ryugaki [spoilers] DIES [/spoilers], I'n really finding it hard to care anymore. All the best characters knocked off, and replaced with some kid who plays with his hair. an androgynous waif who looks like a lady, and......some other dumb crap. Is it even worth me finishing, or should I just have my happy memories of the start?

Take your happiness and get out, or read the manga. DN, although worth raving about, is a dissapointment; but considering that it ran far longer number of episodes than it was intented for, I don't really see how the team behind it could have done any better - their material lacked. If you want to have a good laugh watch the live action movie/movies DN spawned, they are priceless, in the worst possible way.

So upsetting.

It was really good up until these dumb new characters. I might just go "Look stop being a baby and fucking finish it"

I haven't watched much of the anime but have read the manga.

I think it is worth finishing:

1) the spoiler point, is what i think is half way through the plot, and things get quite intense from there.

2) there is a reason why there are two characters replacing the one explained at the end, although a small statement I thought it was quite a poignant one.

Oh brother, you're telling me. I had like...2 episodes left of...something, and I put it off for 2 months but then watched it because I needed to know the end.

Was sub par.

I own vols 1 - 3 of the anime and loved them - although the subtitles tended to be horrific - and have watched up to episode 20ish and still liked it. I'm not sure of where the point is that you start to not like it, but I really like the characters, and I think Rem is cool ^.^

I agree that chocolate guy and crazy toy kid are not cool replacements for L.

I even hate the main character, with a freakish passion.
Dont ask me why I liked the anime... I honestly dont know.

Maybe it was his treatment of all of the women in the anime which pissed me off... The ending was satisfying

Oh... and don't wiki it, some joker put spoilers all over the damn place.

I have only read the first six voumles of Death note the manga, and seen most of the first episode of the anime, so this whole thread is spoiler-tastic.
So, yay on the irony there EvaPilot, Chocolate guy? Crazy toy kid? REPLACE L? NOOOOOO you've killed my will to read it!

I think it is all perfectly fine. You didn't spoil all that much. I knew most of what you wrote - aside from the Chocolate Guy and Toy Kid. I think I'll stick with it anyway, simply because I've heard from a lot of people that it's still really good.
